Man charged after gang shooting in Padbury car park

A 20-year-old Duncraig man was charged over the shotgun shooting in a Padbury car park which seriously injured the victim. The man pulled a shotgun during a fight between two groups of people in a Padbury car park at about 11pm and shot the 21-year-old in the stomach. Police allege the man was in a group that became involved in a dispute with another group. They confronted each other at shopping centre car park in Warburton Avenue and it was during this time that the 21-year-old man was shot in the stomach. Trent Jackson, of Duncraig, has been sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm, going armed to cause fear and possessing an unlicensed firearm. The injured man was driven by a friend to Joondalup Health Campus, in Perth. The victim was in a stable condition after undergoing surgery to remove shotgun pellets from his stomach.

Comments: Social violence among the teenagers is getting worse nowadays. Teenagers are easily influence by peers and have their own peer groups. Even worse, they owned unlicensed firearm and this leads to a more serious social issue as it can kill one’s life with only one shot. Parents should guide them as well as encourage them to choose the right friends. Peer is very powerful to influence each other. Choosing the right friends will lead to the right direction in life. Hence, this needs a concern from all the members in society.

Aaron Travis Pompey jailed over car crash where four passengers died

A judge in the SA District Court has sentenced Aaron Travis Pompey, 20 to a long term jail of nine years and three months after being pleaded guilty to four counts. Pompey was drunk and travelling in the stolen car from Western Australia with the speed of up to 183 km/h and hit the tree. The accident has killed four passengers. Two are Pompey’s friends and the other two teenagers whom he had just met. However, Pompey just suffered minor injuries. Judges said that he uncontrollably hit the tree as it rolled down an embankment. He had found guilty of aggravated causing death by dangerous driving as well as driving without license and drink-driving. Credit has been given to Pompey however, the judge still impose a lengthy jail term on him. Pompey was also banned from driving for 10 years.

My comments:
Road accident is increasing day by day. Every year, thousands of people die in road accidents due to their or others fault. Ignorance of traffic rules and their non-observance results into accidents, fatal injuries or permanent physical disabilities, loss of life and damage of properties. To prevent it, there is a need to generate awareness about traffic norms. I believe that with government intervention, educational programs and law enforcement it helps to curb the increasing levels of road accidents and fatalities. Our responsibility as road users is to obey the traffic rules as well as care for the safety for other road users as well.

Aunt and children found in bush

A Darwin man has been jailed for nearly three years for having a sexual relationship with a boy 55 years his junior. The 69-year-old man was arrested for child sex offences in March this year, shortly after he lodge a report to police that he had been assaulted and robbed at his Darwin home. After questioning him about the robbery, police has discovered and got the evidences that he had been maintaining a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy for more than two months. The Northern Territory Supreme Court heard the boy was with a group of other men during the robbery, but did not take part in the incident. The old man pleaded guilty to have sex with the boy, show him an erotic film and get him involve in drugs. He has been sentenced to four years and two month with a non-parole period of two years and 11 months.

my view: the police and serchers have done a good job and should keep up the good work. I just want to point out a good job done by the searchers and police as they really put high commitment while carrying out thier tasks. However, it would be better if this work practice should be implemented in every fields. (reminder: For us as a student, don't forget to practise it)

comment:
i am speechless after reading this news and can't imagine how this issue can
arise in our society. Moral values,self-respect and one's ability to distinguish between right and wrong are faded in our society. The old man has destroyed the future of the boy and at the same time showing him a dark side in society. In my opinion, parents need to pay close attention to their childrens as well as give them a family love. I think this is one of the important elements to shape them into a wise person.
